Where the Trolleys Sleep

Where the Trolleys Sleep

This series responds to a low-tide walk through Deptford Creek — a place where urban debris and thriving ecology collide. Inspired by the discovery of over 400 discarded shopping trolleys, later left in place to support aquatic life, the prints explore the creek as both habitat and human imprint.

Using drypoint etching, tetrapak prints, gouache, oil pastel, and paint, the works collage together fragments of the creek’s history, textures, and surreal beauty. In one, fish push trolleys in rows — a quiet nod to resilience, adaptation, and the strange poetry of the tidal Thames.

These prints will be available as tote bags and cards in collaboration with Creekside Discovery Centre. Stay tuned for more!
